FAQs

Here are some common questions and answers to help you understand more about giving to Girls Grammar.

Why does the School accept donations?

Supporting our School creates opportunities for both current and future generations of girls and young women, enabling them to pave their own positive legacy in their lives beyond school. Gifts come in many forms including tax-deductible pledge gifts, bequests, non-monetary gifts in kind to support School programs, or cultural gifts as part of the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts Program.

What level of investment is tax deductible?

Brisbane Girls Grammar School (ABN 31 445 392 850) is a registered Deductible Gift Recipient under Subdivision 30BA of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997. Donations above $2 are tax deductible.

Does my donation allow me to vote in Board of Trustees’ elections?

Under the Grammar Schools Act 2016, gifts of $500 and above (excluding donations made via ASF) entitle the donor to one vote in the subsequent Board of Trustees electoral cycle. Gifts of $2000 and above (excluding donations made via ASF) entitle the donor to a vote in all electoral cycles.

What is the Roll of Electors and how does it work?

The School maintains a comprehensive Roll of Electors based on eligibility criteria determined in accordance with the School’s By-laws, and current and past provisions of the Grammar Schools Regulation 2016. Eligible electors are offered the opportunity to vote in the Board of Trustees elections.

Donations to the School’s Deductible Gift Recipient funds (Library Fund, Building Fund, or Education Fund Bursaries and Scholarships) are gifts to the School for the purposes of eligibility criteria. Donations to the School through the Australian Sports Foundation are not considered gifts to the School for the purposes of eligibility criteria.

For further information regarding elections, or to obtain a copy of the Electoral By-laws that set out detailed eligibility criteria, please contact Secretary to the Board of Trustees via email or phone +61 7 3332 1309.

How are donors acknowledged?

We are extremely appreciative of our generous donors, whose support perpetuates our vision to pioneer exceptional scholarship, creating strong, tangible and meaningful pathways for the advancement of women. We are proud to acknowledge our donors in the School’s Annual Review and Impact of Giving reports, unless anonymity is requested. Only donor names, not donation details, are published.
