Student Care
Empowering girls in the modern world to become resilient, adventurous and independent young women requires an unwavering commitment to their wellbeing, not just their learning. Our Student Wellbeing Framework is an holistic approach centred on five key areas, listed below.
Student Wellbeing Framework
01
Relationships: We support Grammar girls to build relationships across the BGGS community, so they can create connections that often last well beyond their time at the School.
Student Wellbeing Framework
02
Belonging: Whether in the classroom, sporting field, stage or beyond, wellbeing is supported through a genuine sense of belonging to a community that values diversity, interdependence and authentic relationships.
Student Wellbeing Framework
03
Understanding girls: We understand the specific needs of girls in their formative years, and offer tailored, evidence-based programs specifically designed for our students.
Student Wellbeing Framework
04
Education and experience: Within a deep culture of learning, we create diverse opportunities for students to strengthen their minds and bodies in preparation for a rewarding life beyond school.

05
Partnerships: We encourage partnerships across our School community, so students and their families can connect and thrive.
House System
The School’s House Structure is a strong and distinguishing feature of Girls Grammar’s learning environment.
The School’s nine Houses—Beanland, England, Gibson, Griffith, Hirschfeld, Lilley, Mackay, O'Connor, and Woolcock—comprise girls from each Year level and are led by a Head of House and House Group teachers. In addition, the School offers Year-level specific advisors.

Ethics Curriculum
The Ethics Curriculum is a specialised wellbeing curriculum delivered to all Year levels focusing on the themes of Positive Relationships, Helpful Thinking, Authentic Emotions, Healthy Habits, Purpose and Engagement.
The program comprises a comprehensive, developmentally sequenced curriculum that includes hosting leading experts, evidenced-based programs and tailored syllabus guided by the needs of students. Each year, the Ethics Curriculum is informed by both student contribution and annual wellbeing data.
Floreamus Centre
A combined space for the Student Counselling Service and Health Centre, the Floreamus Centre adopts a proactive approach to student care, focusing on building resilience for life by equipping students with the necessary experiences, skills and knowledge to ensure authentic wellbeing, now and into the future.
Offering a holistic and integrated approach, the Floreamus Centre comprises an interdisciplinary team of clinical psychologists and school nurses. Together, the team provide high-quality education and primary care to ensure Grammar girls are socially, emotionally, and physically at their best and ready to learn.
Students can seek medical and psychological care throughout the School day, and the ability to access such support enables early detection of typical adolescent health concerns. Students with complex and ongoing wellbeing concerns are referred to a network of well-recognised practitioners in the community.
In addition to individualised support, the Centre provides a specialised wellness program to build girls’ resilience and cultivate courage, optimism, and resourcefulness. Using innovative and evidence-based research to guide the School’s practice, the Centre aims to help Grammar girls make informed lifestyle choices, engage in self-care, and develop the necessary skills to feel good, function well and contribute to their own success.
