Opti-MINDS State Finals
The Opti-MINDS State finals were held on Saturday and Sunday, with five of our teams representing the School.
The weekend began with an Ideas Forum, where the teams prepared a presentation based on something that they could imagine would make the world a better place. The ideas generated by our teams as well as other students, were inspiring and thought-provoking, and we all went away filled with optimism for the future.
For the competition on Sunday, the teams were given three hours to: respond to a challenge; write a script depicting their solution; build costumes and props; and, rehearse. During this time, they were also given a short spontaneous creative challenge to solve in 10 minutes. They all found out just how short three hours can be!
The Language Literature team—Gigi Bissett (7E), Sharon Chan (8H), Ava Dalton (8R), Ashley Na (8H), Amelia Wang (8W), and Ava Wu (8H)—won their divisions with a representation centred around the concept of tall tales using Australian Icons.
Our Science Engineering team, Media team, Social Science Team, and other Language Literature teams all did well, representing the School with enthusiasm and pride.
All the girls embodied what we have come to expect from Grammar girls—they rose to the challenge, used their creativity, and built a team they could rely on. The girls worked independently and with a clear purpose in mind, and at the end of the day produced a piece of work that we could all be proud of. Congratulations Opti-MINDS teams—your creativity, resilience, and hard work have paid off.
