Educating and nurturing the development of young children has been an enduring passion in Susan’s life.

‘After a visit with BGGS to Brisbane Kindergarten Teachers College at the current Kelvin Grove Queensland University of Technology (QUT) campus, I was captured and enthralled by Early Childhood Education and have spent almost all my working career in this field.

‘After completing my studies, I commenced teaching at Hillsdon Kindergarten in Taringa. It was a dynamic centre where learning through play in the most beautiful natural environment gave children a true sense of self, connectedness and understanding of the world around them. It was my unashamed passion for 10 years.

‘I married Roger Witham and we moved to Mackay for a couple of years then returned to Brisbane. We have four children—Tim, William, James, and Jane. They and their partners bring us great joy. I continued Early Childhood studies at QUT and commenced working part time at TAFE until I moved to lecturing at API, retiring five years ago to spend time in our business where I still work today. Since our Dad died I help my three sisters look after our Mum, and I love gardening.’
