During her formative years from 1985 to 1989 at Brisbane Girls Grammar School, Erica gained fame early as a writer.

Her Year 8 English teacher Miss Jan O’Sullivan had compulsorily entered her and fellow classmates into a literary competition in which Erica won first prize. She went on to win multiple writing competitions across her Grammar years, penned winning interhouse drama plays, and had one of her poems appear on the Year 12 Stimulus Material for the state-wide 1989 ASAT exam.

‘What I enjoyed most about BGGS, besides the wonderful women I met there, was the encouragement, support and recognition given to every student to be their best self in whatever area they had aptitude and interest. It is because of my time at BGGS that I have had the confidence to face the challenges and navigate my way into what I am now doing.’

After a colourful and varied international career in the Performing Arts for over 30 years, Erica has returned to writing, securing first prize in the national English-Speaking Union Roly Sussex Short Story Competition (2022) for her piece Song of the Sun and Moon. She recently completed a Masters in Writing, Editing and Publishing at The University of Queensland, and has been working as a Literary Agent and Executive Producer, helping support other writers and artists.
