Iliria Stenning (Myrteza, 2011)
Empowering students through the experience of learning
Girls Grammar fostered Iliria’s interest in technology, and developed leadership and mentoring skills that have informed her career in education.
‘My love of education and technology were both fostered at Grammar—Information Technology Services (ITS) was always my highest-achieving and favourite subject, which I pursued throughout my five years. After being Badminton Captain in Year 12, the following year I discovered my love of teaching when I was appointed as coach.
‘While coaching, I studied a Bachelor of Creative Industries, followed by a Diploma of Education at Queensland University of Technology. After teaching at Swinburne University and Brisbane Catholic Education, I found my dream job as Senior eLearning Designer and Adviser at The University of Queensland, which combines both my love of technology and education.
‘Grammar taught me that women can do anything, especially in fields where we have traditionally been the minority. Throughout my five years I developed a strong work ethic and study habits that have seen me through life.
‘To the excellent teachers, life changing opportunities and empowering nature of Grammar, I will always be grateful.’
