Embrace Kids—presented by 2023 Australian of the Year, Taryn Brumfitt

‘Your body is not an ornament in life. It’s the vehicle to your dreams. It takes you on adventures. We must always be kind to our bodies, and appreciate what they can do.’

That was the parting advice from Taryn Brumfitt, 2023 Australian of the Year, at Thursday evening’s movie screening of EMBRACE KIDS.

Following the success of the original EMBRACE film in 2016, EMBRACE KIDS brings together a vibrant collection of stories from young people, and well-known personalities, sharing their experiences and perspectives around body image, bullying, advocacy, and representation for adolescents.

Year 7 and 8 students and their parents, from both BGGS and BGS, filled the Louise McDonald Room for the screening, followed by a lively student-led Q&A session with the film’s director, Taryn.

Taryn delivered insights and advice—with key takeaways around meaningful friendships, self-empowerment, and being courageous in the pursuit of self-worth and inner happiness.
