Touch Update

Senior A Team

Last week, the Senior A team travelled to Windsor Park to play St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School (St Margaret’s) in our final match of the season. A highlight of this game was when Sarah Taylor (12O) scored after running half the field within the first few minutes. This early try provided the team with a boost of confidence for the rest of the game.

After a motivational half-time chat with our Coach, Mr Andrew Bertram, the team went into the second half aiming to double our score. While we fell short of achieving this, we managed to score more tries throughout the second half. The effort and enthusiasm each team member brought to the game contributed to our team’s winning score (8-3).

The hard work of each and every girl was demonstrated through the immense improvement in both attack and defence on the field during the game. Thank you to Mr Bertram, who taught the team the importance of communication in defence. This technique was used by throughout the game.

At the start of the season, our team set out to improve on our results from last year. While not all games went to plan, each game was a great learning experience and our final win against St Margaret’s was an excellent way to finish the season

8A Touch Report
In the final round of the season, the 8A team competed against St Margaret’s, the Premiership winners, in a very tough game. Although St Margaret’s won, our team scored two tries. Congratulations to Charlotte Parker (8L) and Ruby Hindman (8G).

Ruby scored an amazing try by dummying the defence player followed by a beautiful dive to the score line. In the second half, Charlotte Parker (8L) managed to score a try on the wing. Despite the final score, the 8A team demonstrated great form and played a clean game. We did this by using our scoops, dump and splits and rucking down the middle.

Thank you to our Coach, Mr Doug Mackie, who helped us develop our touch skills and secure some wins this season.
