Tennis Update

Last Saturday, the Girls Grammar Tennis teams played their first matches of the season. Five of the eight teams played at the Queensland Tennis Centre against St Peters Lutheran College, with the Junior A and Junior B teams being fortunate enough to play in front of World Number One, Ashleigh Barty, who was training at the centre. This provided additional motivation for the girls and both teams won their matches. This year we welcome Andrea Liu (7B) and Ashleigh Paulik (7W) to the Junior A team and Isabella Lehane (7B) and Elise O’Kane (7H) to the Junior B team.

The School’s senior players also performed well against their opponents with the Senior A and B teams both securing victories. The Open team was defeated in an extremely close match—32 games to 30. This year’s Open team comprises Emma Armitage-Ho (9R), Stephanie Fancutt (11G), Constance Gentner (12G), Margaret Jones (11L) and Emily Ryan (8E).

The Senior C and C2 teams both won their matches against Brisbane State High School’s Senior C3 and C2 teams respectively. Congratulations to the Junior C2 team for their victory against Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School, winning five 6-0 sets and one 6-1 set to give them a 36-1 victory overall.
