From the Alumnae Relations Manager

Welcome to the first edition of Bishbar Blue for 2023.

It is a pleasure to share the latest edition of Brisbane Girls Grammar School’s alumnae e-publication, featuring the news and achievements of our special community of Grammar Women.

In this edition, we explore the launch of BGGS Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) which is based on three pillars: respect for culture, history, and rights of Indigenous peoples; building strong and respectful relationships; and creating opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our alumnae have been instrumental in contributing to BGGS’ RAP, with some of our Grammar Women helping lead discussions about reconciliation and how the School can play a part in building positive, reciprocal relationships.

I was delighted to interview one Grammar Woman who is pursuing her passion in the Indigenous education sector. I spoke with Anna McArthur-Dowty (2015) to learn about her experience establishing the Uralla Club, as well as the work she has continued to do to partner with First Nations Peoples to build understanding and celebrate culture. You can read the Reconciliation Action Plan here.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any comments, ideas or questions relating to the Alumnae program at BGGS, or if you have suggestions for future editions of Bishbar Blue.
